Exploring barrier islands
The string of barrier islands along the coast of Georgia helps protect fully one third of all remaining salt marsh on the Altantic coast of the U.S. Some of the islands have been 'developed' almost beyond recognition, whereas parts of other islands, and sometimes even whole islands, such as Ossabaw (OI), Little St. Simons (LSSI), and Cumberland Islands (CI), represent critically important ecologic and cultural assets. I have long enjoyed photographing the barrier islands so it is perhaps natural that island images are a 'theme' for the first 'pages' of this site.
